Who I am
My online handle is hexjlxm. I’m the creator and main author of Electric Bike Repair Hub.
I’m not a professional repair technician. In 2004 I bought my first e-bike, a second-hand 36V lead-acid model. I took good care of it, but it wasn’t long before the hub motor stopped spinning. I opened it up and found a worn Hall sensor. Once I replaced it, the motor ran again. Over the next twenty-odd years, I’ve ridden and repaired more than a dozen e-bikes, including brands like Yadea, Segway-Ninebot, Aima, and Xinri. I’ve ridden both lead-acid and lithium models, taken apart both brushed and brushless motors, and run into various electronic component failures inside controllers more than once. Most of these bikes were my own, some belonged to friends. When something went wrong, I’d open it up and take a look. If I couldn’t fix it, I’d keep thinking about it.
Why I built this site
I spend a lot of time going through repair materials. There’s a wealth of real-world e-bike repair experience in China, but most of it stays within Chinese-language circles. Riders in the English-speaking world barely see any of it. I built this site to change that.
My role is to organize, translate, and adapt Chinese e-bike repair knowledge for English readers. Every diagnostic procedure, test step, and repair case on this site is based on real Chinese repair practice, not AI-generated content.
How I work
For every guide, I:
- Start with Chinese repair materials and real technician case studies
- Cross-check the information against multiple independent sources
- Rewrite it in clear, practical English
- Add diagrams, photos, and model notes wherever possible
- Add practical notes where my own repair experience is relevant
- Review each guide by hand before publishing
When I learn something new, I come back and update the guide. If I’m not sure about something, I’ll say so directly.
My promise
- No fabricated expertise
- No unverified copied content
- Clear, practical information
- Regular updates and corrections
What you’ll find here
- Systematic fault diagnosis guides
- Testing and repair case studies
- Circuit diagrams and wiring references
- Tool and test equipment guides
- Maintenance procedures and FAQs
